u4gm Path of Exile 2 Guide Is It Worth Your Time

Path of Exile 2 doesn't take long to show its hand. Within the first hour, it's clear this isn't just the old game with shinier lighting and a new campaign stitched on top. Even little things, like how you move and react in fights, make it feel like a different beast, and that shift changes how players think about progression, loot, and even browsing for PoE 2 Items for sale when a build starts falling behind. The old click-to-delete flow is gone. In its place, you get something slower, more physical, and honestly a bit more demanding.

Combat Feels More Hands-On

The biggest change is the way battles actually play out. WASD movement and a dodge roll sound simple on paper, but they alter everything. You're not just planting your feet and firing off skills anymore. You're sidestepping, creating angles, waiting for openings. That can feel great in boss fights, where every move matters and the pressure builds naturally. Against normal packs, though, it's a mixed bag. A lot of players expected that familiar ARPG rush, and instead they got drawn-out scraps that ask for more effort than the rewards sometimes justify. You can feel why some people are into it, but you can also see why others are irritated.

The Skill System Is a Real Upgrade

One area where the sequel clearly improves on the original is build setup. Tying sockets to skill gems instead of gear is such an obvious win that it makes the old system look even clunkier in hindsight. In the first game, too much of your build could get held hostage by item drops or socket colours that just wouldn't cooperate. Now, there's more room to test ideas without feeling punished for trying something weird. That doesn't mean gearing is suddenly easy. It isn't. But the friction feels more deliberate, less random. For players who love tinkering, that's a huge deal, because experimentation is finally a bit less annoying and a lot more fun.

Why The Community Feels Split

The strange thing is that both sides of the argument have a point. Long-time Path of Exile players miss the speed, the chaos, the sense that a well-made build should tear through content once it comes online. Newer players, or people burned out on screen-wide skill spam, seem more open to this heavier style. They like that enemies fight back, that the world feels grim again, that combat asks for timing instead of autopilot. Still, the campaign pacing has rubbed plenty of people the wrong way. When upgrades don't arrive at the right moment, progress can drag, and that's where excitement turns into fatigue. GGG knows this too. The studio's been pretty open about balance issues, and that honesty has kept a lot of players from writing the game off completely.

What Keeps People Invested

Even with the rough edges, there's a reason people keep logging in. The foundation is strong. The atmosphere lands, the visuals are miles ahead of the first game, and underneath the balance problems there's a system-heavy ARPG with serious long-term potential. If GGG keeps tuning monster health, item progression, and the overall pace, PoE 2 could settle into something special rather than simply different. For players who enjoy testing builds, chasing upgrades, and even checking services like U4GM for game currency or items when they want to save time, there's already plenty here to dig into, even if the game is still figuring out exactly what kind of ARPG it wants to be.
