Embark Studios is changing the way ARC Raiders receives updates, moving away from the fast monthly patch cycle the game used after launch. Instead, the developers now plan to release two large-scale updates each year, focusing more on bigger content drops rather than smaller monthly additions ARC Raiders Coins.

The announcement came in May 2026 and seems to reflect how the team views the game after several months of live service support. Early on, ARC Raiders pushed frequent updates to keep players active in the Rust Belt. Content drops like Northline added new maps, enemies, weapons, and events at a pretty steady pace, but over time some players started feeling those updates were too small to really change the experience in a meaningful way.

Embark appears to agree with that criticism. According to the studio, the faster update schedule made it harder to work on larger systems and deeper improvements because the team was constantly preparing the next monthly release. By slowing things down, they want each update to feel more impactful instead of just adding another limited event or a few balance changes.

The first major update under this new approach is expected to arrive in October 2026 and is currently called Frozen Trail. It sounds much larger in scope than previous patches, with a brand-new map focused on layered environments, harsher survival conditions, puzzles, and more dangerous ARC encounters. Embark says future updates will follow a similar structure, with every major patch bringing a large new area alongside fresh enemies, gear, quests, and gameplay mechanics.

That does not mean the game is going quiet between updates, though. Smaller hotfixes, store rotations, balance changes, and temporary events will still continue regularly. The difference is that the studio no longer wants to rush out major content every month just to maintain a schedule.

A lot of players actually seem positive about the change. ARC Raiders is the kind of game where systems matter just as much as raw content. Extraction shooters live or die based on progression, loot balance, tension during raids, and long-term replayability. Some players felt the old schedule introduced too many things too quickly without giving the core systems enough time to breathe.

The studio has already been testing ideas that fit this longer-term direction. Recent updates expanded traders, storage systems, insurance mechanics, and progression features that make preparation before raids more meaningful. Instead of just dropping new weapons constantly, the developers seem more focused now on improving how the entire survival loop feels.

That shift honestly makes sense for ARC Raiders specifically. The game works best when every raid feels tense and valuable. Bigger maps, stronger environmental storytelling, and more meaningful progression systems probably fit the experience better than nonstop rapid-fire updates. Some of the strongest moments in the game so far came from larger expansions like Stella Montis or Riven Tides, where the world itself changed in noticeable ways.

Embark also has a pretty solid reputation for listening to feedback. Even during smaller patches earlier this year, the team kept adjusting matchmaking, combat pacing, enemy AI, and loot balance based on community reactions. So while the update cadence is slowing down, support for the game clearly is not ending ARC Raiders weapons.

Right now, it feels like Embark is trying to build ARC Raiders into a longer-lasting extraction shooter instead of chasing short-term hype cycles. If Frozen Trail delivers the kind of large-scale content the studio is promising, the slower approach could actually help the game stand out in a crowded live-service market where many updates feel disposable after a week or two.
